If the original can't be smart-rendered, a sample can't be submitted without re-encoding. The originals average 7GB to 12GB. Even a sample cut with VideoReDo will have some re-processing applied to make it smart-renderable in the first place.
As things stand now, I fixed all the bad guys last week and deleted the originals (yep, all 68GB's), which were useless. Will be recording again in a few days. With Hauppauge I never know exactly what I'll get.

LMotlow: I use a Hauppauge HD PVR to record via the component output from our satellite receiver. I occasionally have the lip sync issue. One thing that can lead to the video and audio being out of sync is if weather is affecting what you are recording. If the signal is intermittent and there are gaps it can lead to the overall video being out of sync. Having cable I would think that shouldn't be a problem for you. Sometimes if you notice sync issues a way to fix things is to shut down the PVR, unplug your component cables, shut down your receiver and then hook it back up. In my format settings on the HD PVR, it is set to Constant Bitrate and there is a 9.0 in the box. My recordings are edited with the VideoReDo H.264 program and just about every time the program accepts the files and I can edit them. It records at 1920 x 1080i. I use VidCoder to reduce the files down to 720i files which look pretty decent even on a big screen TV.
I hope this information was of some use to you. -
Unfortunately, cable TV signals can have transmission losses and other problems too. One of my local TV channels frequently breaks up or has gaps when delivered over cable, although the recording made at the same time via antenna using a PC TV tuner card is perfect. My cable provider offers recent episodes of many TV shows on demand for those who can't watch when the program is aired, but if I record from "On Demand" using my Colossus HD-PVR, there are usually problems with the recording, both playing it and editing it, due to many missing audio frames.

Sort of. But shut-down/restart has no effect. Unfortunately 720i is a full re-encode and is invalid for Bluray/AVCHD. These recordings are movies. Telecined. I hope you're not resizing while the recording is still in that state.
I managed to find one leftover original I thought I'd deleted. This had bad synch and was not smart renderable in any app like TSsniper ("no IDR frames found") or H264cutter, none of which would open it. It could be demuxed\remuxed in TSmuxeR, or cut/reworked in TSDoctor and VideoReDo. TSDoctor and TSmuxeR did not make the video smart renderable, but VideoReDo did. With all versions, audio went out of sync after an hour (audio ahead, drifting in and out).
The first attachment "Wind_And_the_Lion_Demo.ts" is selected scenes from the VideoReDo smart rendered version. Bad audio sync, gets worse with time. The second attachment "Wind_And_The_Lion_synched.ts" was resynced using the method described in Post #21 and cuts were smart rendered. The rework took about 90 minutes, start to finish for a 2-hour movie. Recorded off TCM. I asked Mediafire if I could post HDPVR material from TCM. They said no.
I won't leave these big critters posted for long. No sense taking up bandwidth for files that won't be read after a few days. Each = 200+ MB. Takes a while.Last edited by LMotlow; 18th Nov 2014 at 13:18.
